Prayer can help to dispel the lie that you can do something on your own, and to lean on someone else when it seems impossible or unbearable. It can also help to embolden your faith in God through Christ.

Prayer can also be an admission of your weak, unable, and creaturely nature. However, God uses this admission to direct your gaze to him, your strong, able, creator, and sustainer. When your eyes are directed to his strength and care, you're strengthened too. 

2 Corinthians 12:7-10 says, "For when I am weak, then I am strong".
